Helsinki Burlesque is an independent organisation run by me, Bettie Blackheart and my husband EpeDog aka Frank Doggenstein. We are proud to say that we were the first ones to bring international burlesque into Finland.
Helsinki Burlesque started out in 2007 when Bettie Blackheart, Kiki Hawaiji and Frank Doggenstein decided to bring Burlesque into Helsinki Finland. From the start we knew our focus would be on the quality of the of the performers and we would do our best to keep the artform and it’s traditions alive ,well, and creative. Our goal was and still is to present a wide variety of contemporary burlesque performances for the Finnish audience. As a result of our efforts to keep Helsinki Burlesque authentic, we have had the honour to work with fabulous talents like, Satan’s Angel, World Famous *BOB*, Little Brooklyn, Scotty the Blue Bunny, Kitten on the Keys, Vivienne Vavoom, Missy Malone, Leyla Rose, The Teaserettes, Fancy Chance, Miss Eva Von Slut, Major Suttle-Tease, Diamond Daggers, among many other international visitors from around the world.
In addition to our international stars we have an ever growing community of Finnish performers which includes a Boylesque scene has been breaking new ground since it’s inception.
Our annual New Comer’s night gives us the opportunity to meet almost all the new talent from around the country.
Since 2007 a lot has happened in the Finnish Burlesque. The cities of Tampere and Turku have delightful Burlesque scenes and many small cities are hosting our events and parties.
Burlesque in Finland is certainly alive and kicking. We hope we can continue our work within this unbelievable creative community and for our part keep the spirit of Burlesque alive.
